What To Expect

A typical first visit to the Chiro includes new patient paperwork, case history, physical examination, treatment and follow up plan.

Visiting a Chiropractor's office is similar to visiting other healthcare providers, you will likely find the office setting and intake procedures quite familiar. The one distinctive feature you may notice however, is the Chiropractic treatment table. These tables are often quite elaborate to assist with positioning and movement during some treatments.

Many health problems can mimic disorders of the spine, our comprehensive medical/health history and physical examination will allow us to make the most accurate diagnosis. Please be assured that if your problem is not one that can be helped by Chiropractic treatment, or if our examination reveals any additional concerns, we will refer you appropriately so that you get the best care.

"Adjustments” are usually the central part of Chiropractic treatment, with the goal of restoring structural alignment and motion in order to improve joint function. If you don't like the manual adjustments, you may instead receive mild or non-force techniques.

These adjustments can also be accompanied by soft tissue treatment, stretches, taping, dry needling, and advice for home or the work place. You will also be given specific home stretches and exercises to help maintain and further improve your condition.

When being treated for a complaint such as back or neck pain, you will most likely receive a series of adjustments over a few days, to incrementally reduce the irritation and improve normal function. As your condition improves, how often your Chiropractor sees you will decrease in frequency.

Your Results

A number of factors are taken into account when developing your treatment plan:

  • The severity of your complaint

  • The length of time you've suffered

  • The condition of your spine as affected by age and previous injury

  • Your general health

  • What your goals of treatment are

At the initial consultation, your Chiropractor will tell you the status of your condition and recommend an approach to care. Your goals of treatment should result from this discussion with your Chiropractor. Some people seek only relief of pain or discomfort, while others want to improve and maintain the overall health of their back, a bit like servicing your car before it breaks down. Whatever you want, our Chiro's are here to help.

At all times we encourage you to ask any questions you may have.

Further Investigation

After reviewing your complaint in detail, in some instances further investigations are necessary. We may refer you for x-rays, which are bulk billed at no cost to you. An MRI may be required, for which we will refer you to one of the private providers in Perth, the closest to us being in Canning Vale. Depending on your condition, if any other form of imaging or tests are needed, we will liaise with your GP to ensure you receive the most accurate diagnosis and treatment plan possible.
